Pedostibes rugosus Inger, 1958, Sarawak Mus. J., 8: 476. Holotype: FMNH 81297, by original designation. Type locality: "Menuang, headwaters of the Baleh River", Third Division, Sarawak, Malaysia (Borneo). Synonymy by Chandramouli and Amarasinghe, 2016, Herpetologica, 7: 137.

Distribution

Forests of northern Borneo in Sarawak and Sabah (Malaysia, Brunei, and adjacent Kalimanta, Indonesia, 150–1050 m elevation.

Comment

Reviewed by Inger, 1966, Fieldiana, Zool., 52: 92.96–97, who noted that the previous record for Sarawak is not of this species (as Pedostibes rugosus). Malkmus, Manthey, Vogel, Hoffmann, and Kosuch, 2002, Amph. Rept. Mount Kinabalu: 82-83, provided an account (as Pedostibes rugosus). Placed into Rentapia by Chan, Grismer, Zachariah, Brown, and Abraham, 2016, PLoS One, 11(1): e0145903: 9. See identification table by Manthey and Grossmann, 1997, Amph. Rept. Südostasiens: 26, to compare this species (as Pedostibes rugosus) with others in the Sunda Shelf region.
