Comment

Schwartz and Thomas, 1975, Spec. Publ. Carnegie Mus. Nat. Hist., 1: 13, noted the possibility that the two subspecies of (former) Bufo peltocephalus may be distinct species, Bufo peltocephalus and Bufo fustiger. Subsequently recognized as distinct by Estrada and Ruibal, 1999, in Crother (ed.), Caribb. Amph. Rept.: 42, as distinct. Díaz and Cádiz, 2008, Guía Taxon. Anf. Cuba: 1-294, provided an account, as Bufo fustigerHenderson and Powell, 2009, Nat. Hist. Rept. Amph. W. Indies: 27–28, summarized the natural history literature (as Bufo fustiger).
