Atelopus longibrachius Rivero, 1963, Caribb. J. Sci., 3: 112. Holotype: FMNH 54283, by original designation. Type locality: "El Tambo, Guisitó [= Huisitó, 800 m], Cauca, Colombia, 300 m, Pacific side of Colombia".

English Names

El Tambo Stubfoot Toad (Frank and Ramus, 1995, Compl. Guide Scient. Common Names Amph. Rept. World: 39).

Distribution

Pacific versant of the Cordillera Occidental of Cauca (Guisito and La Costa) and southeastern Chocó (Playa del Oro), Colombia, in lowland rainforest and montane cloud forest, 300–1200 m elevation.

In the Atelopus flavescens group of Lynch, 1993, Alytes, 11: 77–87. Lötters, 1996, Neotrop. Toad Genus Atelopus: 33, suggested the possibility that the elevation of the type locality was a typographic error in the original publication. Lynch and Suárez-Mayorga, 2004, in Rangel (ed.), Colombia Divers. Biotica IV, El Chocó, 1: 654, provided additional records from Colombia.
