Breviceps acutirostris Poynton, 1963, Ann. Natal Mus., 15: 321. Holotype: AMG 5507, by original designation; now PEM A1540 according to Conradie, Branch, and Watson, 2015, Zootaxa, 3936: 50. Type locality: "Swellendam Mountains", southwestern Western Cape Province, Rep. South Africa.
