Comment

In the Eleutherodactylus orcutti group, according to Shreve and Williams, 1963, Bull. Mus. Comp. Zool., 129: 326–327, who considered it annectent to the Eleutherodactylus auriculatus group. This group (the Eleutherodactylus orcutti group) was implicitly considered polyphyletic by several authors, including Crombie, 1977, Proc. Biol. Soc. Washington, 90: 194–204. See comment under Eleutherodactylus orcutti. Schwartz, 1967, Stud. Fauna Curaçao and other Caribb. Is., 24: 56, noted that this species might be a member of the Eleutherodactylus ricordii group. Placed in the Eleutherodactylus (Euhyas) bakeri series according to Hedges, 1989, in Woods (ed.), Biogeograph. W. Indies: 323. In Eleutherodactylus (Euhyas) unassigned to species group, according to Lynch and Duellman, 1997, Univ. Kansas Mus. Nat. Hist. Spec. Publ., 23: 232. In the Eleutherodactylus (Euhyas) oxyrhyncus species series, Eleutherodactylus bakeri species group of Hedges, Duellman, and Heinicke, 2008, Zootaxa, 1737: 74, and of Padial, Grant, and Frost, 2014, Zootaxa, 3825: 130. See map, description of geographic range and habitat, and conservation status in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph. World: 379. Henderson and Powell, 2009, Nat. Hist. Rept. Amph. W. Indies: 77, summarized the natural history literature. Ríos-López, 2023, In Rios-Lopez and Heatwole (eds.), Conserv. Biogeograph. Amph. Caribb.: 218–262, discussed conservation status and related issues in Haiti.
