Tiburon Peninsula in Haiti, as far as as Jacmel in the south and Petionville in the north, 0–2970 ft elevation.


Powell, 1993, Herpetol. Rev., 24: 135–137, suggested that Eleutherodactylus ruthae aporostegus warranted binominal status. In the Eleutherodactylus (Pelorius) ruthae species series of Hedges, Duellman, and Heinicke, 2008, Zootaxa, 1737: 86 (who also formalized recognition as a species), and of Padial, Grant, and Frost, 2014, Zootaxa, 3825: 131. Henderson and Powell, 2009, Nat. Hist. Rept. Amph. W. Indies: 36–37, summarized the natural history literature.
