Oreobates barituensis Vaira and Ferrari, 2008, Zootaxa, 1908: 57. Holotype: FML 21079, by original designation. Type locality: Baritú, Departamento Santa Victoria, Provincia Salta, Argentina (22° 29′ 58,53″ S 64°; 45′ 40,83″ W, 1100 m above sea level)".

Distribution

Known from several localities in Salta Province (Santa Victoria and Orán departments) and from one locality in Valle Grande Department , Jujuy Province in northwestern Argentina at elevations of 1100-1300 m; possibly to be found in adjacent Bolivia.

Comment

Similar to Oreobates discoidalis, Oreobates ibischi, and Oreobates cruralis according to the original publication, where external morphology, advertisement call, and natural history were discussed. Akmentins and Vaira, 2009, Check List, 5: 216–217, reported the first specimens from Jujuy Province, Argentina, and discussed the range. Akmentins, 2011, J. Nat. Hist., London, 45: 1789-1799, reported on the vocal repertoire. Ferro, Taffarel, Cardozo, Grosso, Puig, Suárez, and Akmentins, 2016, Comp. Cytogenet., 10: 141–156, reported on chromosome morphology.
