Comment

In the Eleutherodactylus (Craugastor) alfredi group of Lynch and Duellman, 1997, Univ. Kansas Mus. Nat. Hist. Spec. Publ., 23: 222. Shreve, 1957, Bull. Mus. Comp. Zool., 116: 246–247, considered Eleutherodactylus conspicuus a subspecies of Craugastor alfredi, whereas Duellman, 1960, Univ. Kansas Publ. Mus. Nat. Hist., 13: 53–54, saw little justification for recognizing Craugastor alfredi conspicuus as distinct at all. In the Eleutherodactylus (Craugastor) alfredi group according to Lynch and Duellman, 1997, Univ. Kansas Mus. Nat. Hist. Spec. Publ., 23: 219. See accounts by Campbell, 1998, Amph. Rept. N. Guatemala Yucatan Belize: 51–52; and Lee, 2000, Field Guide Amph. Rept. Maya World: 63–64. In the Craugastor (Hylactophryne) bocourti species series of Hedges, Duellman, and Heinicke, 2008, Zootaxa, 1737: 45. Padial, Grant, and Frost, 2014, Zootaxa, 3825: 123, rejected the recognition of species groups within Hylactophryne. See map, description of geographic range and habitat, and conservation status in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph. World: 298. Köhler, 2011, Amph. Cent. Am.: 140–191, provided a key to the genera and species of Brachycephaloidea (= Craugastoridae, Eleutherodactylidae) in Central America and provided maps and photographs of the species, including this one.
