Ital., N.S., Monogr., 2: 279-280, for accounts. Brieva and Formas, 2002 "2001", Amphibia-Reptilia, 22: 413-420, reported on allozyme variation in the species. Blotto, Nuñez, Úbeda, Wheeler, and Faivovich, 2013, Cladistics, 29: 113-131, considered this species to be a member of Batrachyla on the basis of molecular phylogenetics. Correa-Quezada, Cisternas, Velásquez, Lobos, and San Martín-Órdenes, 2014, Herpetol. Notes, 7: 703–706, provided range extension in Chile and mapped and discussed the range in that country. Puente-Torres and Simonetti, 2016, Check List, 12(4, Art. 1917): 1–3, provided a dot map for Chile and discussed the habitats occupied.
