Comment
In Astylosternini of Frost, Grant, Faivovich, Bain, Haas, Haddad, de Sá, Channing, Wilkinson, Donnellan, Raxworthy, Campbell, Blotto, Moler, Drewes, Nussbaum, Lynch, Green, and Wheeler, 2006, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 297: 336. Perret, 1966, Zool. Jahrb., Jena, Abt. Syst., 93: 376-379, provided brief accounts of the Cameroon species. Amiet, 1978 "1977", Ann. Fac. Sci. Cameroun, 23–24: 99-227, reviewed the Cameroon species and defined species groups. Rödel, Barej, Hillers, Leaché, Kouamé, Ofori-Boateng, Assemian, Gonwouo, Nopper, Brede, Diaz, Fujita, Gil, Segniagbeto, Ernst, and Sandberger-Loua, 2012, Zootaxa, 3245: : 1-29, suggested that including West African species of Astylosternus into analysis (as was done in their Neighbor-Joining Tree) might demonstrate that Astylosternus is paraphyletic with respect to Trichobatrachus. Channing, Rödel, and Channing, 2012, Tadpoles of Africa: 89–94, reported on comparative tadpoloe morphology.
