Comment

Removed from the synonymy of Anomaloglossus stepheni by Grant, Frost, Caldwell, Gagliardo, Haddad, Kok, Means, Noonan, Schargel, and Wheeler, 2006, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 299: 158, where it had been placed by Kok, 2001, Herpetol. Bull., London, 73: 1. Lescure and Marty, 2000, Collect. Patrimoines Nat., Paris, 45: 82-83, provided a brief account, description of the advertisement call, and photo (as Colostethus baeobatrachus). See account for Suriname population by Ouboter and Jairam, 2012, Amph. Suriname: 28–29. Sánchez, 2013, Zootaxa, 3637: 569–591, provided information on larval morphology. In the Anomaloglossus stepheni group of Vacher, Kok, Rodrigues, Lima, Lorenzini, Martinez, Fallet, Courtois, Blanc, Gaucher, Dewynter, Jairam, Ouboter, Thébaud, and Fouquet, 2017, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 112: 158–173, who noted that this clade is composed of several cryptic species of which Anomaloglossus baeobatrachus appears to be restricted to French Guiana and adjacent Brazil with several others found in Suriname, Guyana, and Brazil. Fouquet, Ferrier, Salmona, Tirera, Vacher, Courtois, Gaucher, Lima, Marques-Souza, Nunes, Rodrigues, Noonan, and de Thoisy, 2019, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 130: 169–180, discussed introgression among larval endotrophic and exotrophic members of the species complex. See account by Fouquet, Vacher, Courtois, Deschamps, Ouboter, Jairam, Gaucher, Dubois, and Kok, 2019, Zootaxa, 4576: 442–446, where they noted that southern French Guiana and Amapá, Brazil, populations differ genetically, morphologically, and in calls from each other and the population bearing the name in northern French Guiana. Fouquet, Vidal, and Dewynter, 2019, Zoosystema, 41: 368, reported the species from the Mitaraka Massif in southwestern French Guiana, on the border with Amapá, Brazil and commented on the range. Taucce, Costa-Campos, Carvalho, and Michalski, 2022, Eur. J. Taxon., 836: 100–101, discussed the problematic taxonomy of this nominal species in Amapá, Brazil, as well as its distribution, literature, and conservation status in Amapá, Brazil.
