Allophryne resplendens Castroviejo-Fisher, Pérez-Peña, Padial, and Guayasamin, 2012, Am. Mus. Novit., 3739: 5. Holotype: MZUNAP-01-605, by original designation. Type locality: "Lago Preto (4° 27′ 35.0″S, 71° 45′ 3.5″W; 120 m), Río Yavarí, Provincia Ramón Castilla, Departamento Loreto, Peru".

Distribution

Known from two localities in Loreto, northeastern Amazonian Peru (the type locality in the Yavarí River drainage, near the Brazilian border), two localities in Amazonas, Brazil (Quebrada Hungurahui, about 2 km north of Comunidad Monte Verde, and  Reserva Extrativista do Baixo Juruá, Comunidade Antonina, Juruá Municipality, as well as one locality in Acre state of Brazil (Municipality of Cruzeiro do Sul).

The external morphology, and molecular markers were discussed in the original publication. Carvalho, MacCulloch, Bonora, and Vogt, 2010, J. Herpetol., 44: 561–562, reported the first record from Brazil. Fonseca, Oliveira, Almeida, Machado, Oliveira, and Bernarde, 2020, Herpetol. Notes, 13: 161–163, discussed and mapped the range and provided the record from Acre state, Brazil. Fonseca, Almeida, Nascimento, Moraes, Machado, Bernarde, Costa-Campos, and Carvalho, 2022, Zootaxa, 5138: 196–200, described the advertisement call from Acre, Brazil, and compared it to that of Allophryne relicta and Allophryne ruthveni
