Hyloxalus panamansis Dunn, 1933, Occas. Pap. Boston Soc. Nat. Hist., 8: 69. Holotype: MCZ 19209, by original designation. Type locality: "El Valle de Anton in the northwestern corner of the Province of Panama", Panama. ( Grant, Frost, Ibáñez, Myers, and Savage, 2006, Bull. Zool. Nomencl., 63: 39-41, submitted a petition to ICZN to treat this spelling as an incorrect original spelling.) Name conserved by Opinion 2195 ( Anonymous, 2008, Bull. Zool. Nomencl., 65: 77-78).

Distribution

Elevations below 800 m throughout the eastern two-thirds of Panama, including the provinces of Coclé, Colón, Darien, Herrera, Panamá, and San Blas; also in extreme northwestern Colombia in the Parque Nacional Natural Los Katios, Department of Chocó.

Removed from the synonymy of Colostethus inguinalis by Grant, 2004, Am. Mus. Novit., 3444: 12, where it had been placed by Heatwole and Sexton, 1966, Am. Midl. Nat., 75: 58; Savage, 1968, Copeia, 1968: 751; and Silverstone, 1976, Sci. Bull. Nat. Hist. Mus. Los Angeles Co., 27: 6.
