Prostherapis inguinalis Cope, 1868, Proc. Acad. Nat. Sci. Philadelphia, 20: 137. Holotype: USNM 4349; see discussion by Grant, 2004, Am. Mus. Novit., 3444: 10. Type locality: "from the river Truando, [Departamento Chocó,] New Grenada [= Colombia]".

Type locality: "Quebrada La Ceba, Municipio de Cáceres, a unos 10 km. de El Jardin atravesando el Río Cauca hacia el Río Nechi, 7° 35′ N 75° 21′ O, 85 m., Departamento de Antioquia, Colombia". Synonymy by Grant, 2004, Am. Mus. Novit., 3444: 6.

Distribution

Lowland forests of northwestern and northcentral Colombia up to 400 m elevation, in northern Chocó department, immediately north of the western Andean Cordilleras in Antioquia and Córdoba departments, and in the Magdalena Valley of Antioquia and Boyacá departments.
