Borborocoetes stejnegeri Noble, 1924, Proc. Biol. Soc. Washington, 37: 68. Holotype: USNM 52608, by original designation. Type locality: "Organ Mts. [= Serra dos Órgãos], Brazil, 1500 meters". Bokermann, 1966, Lista Anot. Local. Tipo Anf. Brasil.: 16, noted that elevations such as noted in the type locality only occur within the Parque Nacional da Serra dos órgãos, Estado de Rio de Janeiro", Brazil.
