Cycloramphus granulosus Lutz, 1929, Mem. Oswaldo Cruz, Rio de Janeiro, 22: 13. Syntypes: IOC (now MNRJ), USNM 96742, UMMZ 92446 (formerly USNM 96747) and MCZ 25711 (formerly USNM, according to Barbour and Loveridge, 1946, Bull. Mus. Comp. Zool., 96: 98) (USNM disputes the syntype status of the UMMZ and MCZ specimens; K. Tighe, USNM, personal commun.); AL-MNRJ 1537 designated lectotype by Heyer, 1983, Arq. Zool., São Paulo, 30: 307. Type locality: "Serra da Bocaina", Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, Brazil; given as Bonito, Serra da Bocaina, boundary of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo [Brazil] by Cochran, 1955 "1954", Bull. U.S. Natl. Mus., 206: 261).
