Comment

See account by Rivero, 1961, Bull. Mus. Comp. Zool., 126: 163-164. The published descriptions of specimens allocated to this name vary suspiciously; Edwards, 1974, Occas. Pap. Mus. Nat. Hist. Univ. Kansas, 30: 2, listed the species as webless and Rivero, 1978 "1976", Mem. Soc. Cienc. Nat. La Salle, 35: 327-344, considered the species to have a short basal web and lateral fringes. Barrio-Amorós, 2004, Rev. Ecol. Latino Am., 9: 7, reported on distribution and relevant literature. See photograph, map, description of geographic range and habitat, and conservation status (as Nephelobates alboguttatus) in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph. World: 234, in which they status that Colostethus inflexus Rivero may yet prove to be a distinct species. Barrio-Amorós and Santos, 2012, Zootaxa, 3422: 24, suggested that the type material of Colostethus inflexus requires additional examination prior to placing that taxon in the synonymy of Colostethus alboguttatus.
