Eleutherodactylus cheiroplethus Lynch, 1990, Herpetologica, 46: 136. Holotype: ICN 18013, by original designation. Type locality: "Quebrada El Silencio, approximately 5 km above the INDERENA cabaña 'Rio Calles' (Parque Nacional Natural 'Las Orquídeas'), Vereda Rio Calles, Municipio Urrao, Departamento Antioquia, Colombia".

Distribution

Moderate elevations (1140-1540 m) on the western slopes of the northern half of the Cordillera Occidental in Colombia.

Comment

In the Eleutherodactylus rugulosus group, likely the sister taxon of Eleutherodactylus anatipes, according to the original publication. In the Eleutherodactylus (Craugastor) anomalus group according to Lynch and Duellman, 1997, Univ. Kansas Mus. Nat. Hist. Spec. Publ., 23: 222. Removed from a monophyletic Craugastor and from the Eleutherodactylus rugulosus group by Lynch, 2000, Rev. Acad. Colomb. Cienc. Exact. Fis. Nat., 24: 130. In the Strabomantis bufoniformis species series, of Hedges, Duellman, and Heinicke, 2008, Zootaxa, 1737: 132.
