Known from three localities in the western part of Antioquia, Colombia, on the western and eastern slopes of the Cordillera Occidental between 1480 and 1940 m elevation.
Likely the sister species of Eleutherodactylus ganonotus according to the original publication. In the subgenus Pristimantis, but unnassigned to species group by Hedges, Duellman, and Heinicke, 2008, Zootaxa, 1737: 118.
