Colostethus tepuyensis La Marca, 1997 "1996", Publ. Asoc. Amigos Doñana, 9: 49. Holotype: ULABG 2557, by original designation. Type locality: "entre Danto y Piñón, a casi una hora caminando desde Danto, en el trayecto desde Kamarate hasta las laderas del Auyantepui, Estado Bolívar, Venezuela, 1.650 m s.n.m."

Auyantepui region and Mount Roraima, southeastern Venezuela, and Ayanganna region, Guyana.
Comment
La Marca, Señaris, and Molina, 2002, Herpetol. Rev., 33: 219, provided a range extension and commented on the range. Myers and Donnelly, 2008, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 308: 30-45, provided an account and compared the holotype description with their material, and noted some differences. MacCulloch and Lathrop, 2009, R. Ontario Mus. Contrib. Sci., 4: 11-12, commented on specimens from the Ayanganna region, Guyana.
