Colostethus tamacuarensis Myers and Donnelly, 1997, Am. Mus. Novit., 3213: 17. Holotype: AMNH 131347, by original designation. Type locality: "from forested stream at north base of Pico Tamacuari, 1160-1200 m elevation, Sierra Tapirapecó, Amazonas, Venezuela (1°13′ N, 64°42′ W)".

Known from the type locality on the Sierra Tapirapecó, Amazonas, Venezuela, as well as on the Brazilian slopes of the same Sierra in the Municipality of Carcelos, Amazonas, Brazil.
