Known only from the type locality in the northern Cordillera Oriental (Hacienda La Sierra, Departamento de Boyacá, Colombia).
Most closely related to a group composed of Eleutherdactylus angustilineatus, Eleutherdactylus baiotis, Eleutherdactylus boulengeri, Eleutherdactylus brevifrons, Eleutherdactylus dorsopictus, and Eleutherdactylus eremitus, according to the original publication. In the Pristimantis (Pristimantis) unistrigatus species group of Hedges, Duellman, and Heinicke, 2008, Zootaxa, 1737: 128.
