Known only from the vicinity of the type locality (Florencia forest, Samaná municipality, in Caldas Department, Colombia) in cloud forests on the eastern slope of the Cordillera Central, 1900-2400 m elevation.
Likely the sister species of Eleutherodactylus galdi according to the original publication. Lynch and Glavis-Peñuela, 2004, in Rueda-Almonacid et al. (eds.), Libro Rojo Anf.
