Eleutherodactylus simonbolivari Wiens and Coloma, 1992, J. Herpetol., 26: 197. Holotype: QCAZ 1459, by original designation. Type locality: "Bosque Protector Cashca Totoras, 10 km southeast Santiago on road to Santa Rosa de Totoras, (78°53′W, 1°42′S, elevation 3200 m), Provincia Bolívar, Ecuador".

Known only from the region of the type locality, Cashca Totoras, Bolívar Province, in central Ecuador, 3200 m elevation.
Comment
In the Eleutherodactylus myersi assembly according to the original publication. See account by Lynch and Duellman, 1997, Univ. Kansas Mus. Nat. Hist. Spec. Publ., 23: 132-133, who placed it in the Eleutherodactylus (Eleutherodactylus) conspicillatus series, Eleutherodactylus orestes group. In the Pristimantis (Pristimantis) orestes species group of Hedges, Duellman, and Heinicke, 2008, Zootaxa, 1737: 125.
