Known only from two closely situated localities in the Cordillera Oriental in the yungas formation, Provincia de Oxapampa, Departamento de Pasco, at 2050 and 2200 m elevations.
In the Eleutherodactylus (Eleutherodactylus) unistrigatus group, most similar to Eleutherodactylus lanthanites, according to the original publication. In the Pristimantis (Pristimantis) peruvianus species group of Hedges, Duellman, and Heinicke, 2008, Zootaxa, 1737: 126.
