Eleutherodactylus rhabdocnemus Duellman and Hedges, 2005, Copeia, 2005: 531. Holotype: KU 291646, by original designation. Type locality: "Peru, Departamento de Pasco, Provincia de Oxapampa, 2.9 km north and 5.5 km east (airline) of Oxapampa, 10° 32′ 38″ S, 75° 21′ 10″ W, 2600 m elevation".

Known from elevations of 2600-2900 m on the western slopes of the Cordillera Yanachaga in central Peru (Provincia de Oxapampa, Departamento de Pasco).
In the Eleutherodactylus (Eleutherodactylus) unistrigatus group according to the original publication. Lehr, Lundberg, Aguilar, and von May, 2006, Herpetol. Monogr., 20: 123, provided comments on identification, habitat, and range, which they suggested may be synonymous with Eleutherodactylus lirellus. In the Pristimantis (Pristimantis) unistrigatus species group of Hedges, Duellman, and Heinicke, 2008, Zootaxa, 1737: 128.
