Eleutherodactylus prolixodiscus Lynch, 1978, Copeia, 1978: 17. Holotype: KU 132726, by original designation. Type locality: "30 km ENE Bucaramanga, road to Cucata, Departamento Santander, Colombia, 2,485 m".

Distribution

Northern Cordillera Oriental of Colombia and adjacent Táchira, Barinas, Mérida, and Táchira, Venezuela, 2300-2485 m.

Comment

In the Eleutherodactylus unistrigatus group, Eleutherodacytlus lacrimosus assemblage, according to Heyer and Hardy, 1991, Proc. Biol. Soc. Washington, 104: 444. In the Eleutherodactylus (Eleutherodactylus) martinicensis series, Eleutherodactylus unistrigatus group according to Lynch and Duellman, 1997, Univ. Kansas Mus. Nat. Hist. Spec. Publ., 23: 231. The frogs from the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta referred to this species by Lynch, 1978, Copeia, 1978: 18, are of a distinct species according to J. D. Lynch in Frost, 1985, Amph. Species World: 314. Barrio-Amorós, 1999 "1998", Acta Biol. Venezuelica, 18: 52, 54, commented on the Venezuelan distribution (as both Eleutherodactylus prolixodiscus and Eleutherodactylus chlorosoma). Lynch, 2003, Rev. Acad. Colomb. Cienc. Exact. Fis. Nat., 27: 456, discussed the species. In the Pristimantis (Pristimantis) lacrimosus species group of Hedges, Duellman, and Heinicke, 2008, Zootaxa, 1737: 123.
