Upper cloud forest and subparamo (2400-3700 m) of the Cordillera Central of Colombia south to the southern edge of the Los Nevados district, and on at least the eastern slopes of the northern portion of the Cordillera Occidental, Colombia, south to the Municipality of La Cumbre, Valle del Cauca, Colombia; a record from Antioquía in the Western Andes (Cordillera Occidental) requires verification.

In the Eleutherodactylus (Eleutherodactylus) martinicensis series, Eleutherodactylus unistrigatus group according to Lynch and Duellman, 1997, Univ. Kansas Mus. Nat. Hist. Spec. Publ., 23: 230. In the Pristimantis (Pristimantis) unistrigatus species group of Hedges, Duellman, and Heinicke, 2008, Zootaxa, 1737: 128. Méndez-Narváez, Bolívar-García, and Castro-Herrera, 2010, Check List, 6: 499-500, provided a range extension to Valle del Cauca, Colombia, and commented on confusion of this species with Pristimantis supernatis.
