Colostethus sumtuosus Morales, 2002 "2000", Publ. Asoc. Amigos Doñana, 13: 38. Holotype: USNM 303591, by original designation. Type locality: "Igarape Jacare, por encima del Lago Jacare, Reserva Biológica Río Trombetas, Estado de Pará, Brasil".

Distribution
Currently thought to occur in two widely separated populations: drainage of the north bank of the Amazon in Pará, Brazil, and far upstream in Loreto, Peru; possibly into adjacent Colombia and in other intervening areas of Brazil.
Comment
In the Colostethus trilineatus group according to the original publication. See comment under Allobates. Simões and Lima, 2012, Zootaxa, 3499: 86-88, described the larvae.
