In the Eleutherodactylus leptolophus group according to the original publication. In the Eleutherodactylus (Eleutherodactylus) martinicensis series, Eleutherodactylus leptolophus group of Lynch and Duellman, 1997, Univ. Kansas Mus. Nat. Hist. Spec. Publ., 23: 227. In the Pristimantis (Pristimantis) leptolophus species group of Hedges, Duellman, and Heinicke, 2008, Zootaxa, 1737: 123, although they suggested that it might not belong in this group.
