Eleutherodactylus inguinalis Parker, 1940, Ann. Mag. Nat. Hist., Ser. 11, 5: 263. Holotype: BMNH 1939.1.1.1, by original designation. Type locality: "the New River, British Guiana". [This locality is in region claimed by Surinam according to M.S. Hoogmoed in Frost, 1985, Amph. Species World: 295.]

Several localities in Guyana, Surinam, and French Guiana.

In the Eleutherodactylus (Eleutherodactylus) martinicensis series, Eleutherodactylus unistrigatus group of Lynch and Duellman, 1997, Univ. Kansas Mus. Nat. Hist. Spec. Publ., 23: 226. Lescure and Marty, 2000, Collect. Patrimoines Nat., Paris, 45: 208-209, provided a photo and brief account for French Guiana. In the Pristimantis (Pristimantis) unistrigatus species group of Hedges, Duellman, and Heinicke, 2008, Zootaxa, 1737: 128. Kok and Kalamandeen, 2008, Intr. Taxon. Amph. Kaieteur Natl. Park, 5: 240-241, provided an account of Pristimantis cf inguinalis from Kaieteur National Park, Guyana. MacCulloch and Lathrop, 2009, R. Ontario Mus. Contrib.
