Distribution
Montane forest and páramo in the vicinity of El Playón de San Francisco, at elevation of 3229-3700 m, Provinci Sucumbíos, Cordillera Oriental in northern Ecuador, and almost surely in nearby adjacent Colombia.

In the Eleutherodactylus orcesi group according to the original publication. In the Pristimantis (Pristimantis) orcesi species group of Hedges, Duellman, and Heinicke, 2008, Zootaxa, 1737: 125.
