Type locality: "Km 34 on road from Oxapampa to Yaupi (10° 44′ 44.4″ S, 75° 30′ 02.2″ W) at 1770 m . . . Distrito de Chontabamba, provincia de Oxapampa, Departamento de Pasco, Peru".

Distribution
Known only from the type locality in the Selva Alta Ecoregion on the Amazonian slopes of the Cordillera oriental in central Peru at 1770 m elevation.
Comment
In the Eleutherodactylus (Eleutherodactylus) unistrigatus group, most similar to Eleutherodactylus cruciocularis, according to the original publication. In the Pristimantis (Pristimantis) unistrigatus species group of Hedges, Duellman, and Heinicke, 2008, Zootaxa, 1737: 128.
