Known only from the type locality in the Selva Alta Ecoregion on the Amazonian slopes of the Cordillera oriental in central Peru at 1770 m elevation.
In the Eleutherodactylus (Eleutherodactylus) unistrigatus group, most similar to Eleutherodactylus cruciocularis, according to the original publication. In the Pristimantis (Pristimantis) unistrigatus species group of Hedges, Duellman, and Heinicke, 2008, Zootaxa, 1737: 128.
