Allobates niputidea Grant, Acosta-Galvis, and Rada, 2007, Copeia, 2007: 845. Holotype: MUJ 3520, by original designation. Type locality: "Colombia, Departamento de Caldas, Municipio de La Dorada, Vereda San Roque, Reserva Natural Privada Riomanso, 280 m, 5° 40′ N, 74° 46′ W".

Distribution
Wet tropical forests of the foothills of the western slopes of the Cordillera Oriental (departments of Boyacá and Santander) and eastern slopes of the Cordillera Central (departments of Caldas and Antioquia), Colombia, 70-320 m elevation.
Comment
The sister taxon is Allobates talamancae and the species name a noun in apposition according to the original publication.
