Pristimantis educatoris Ryan, Lips, and Giermakowski, 2010, J. Herpetol., 44: 194. Holotype: USNM 572336, by original designation. Type locality: "forest just below the Continental Divide on Atlantic slope; Parque Nacional G. D. Omar Torrijos H., Cocle´, Panama´ (8° 39.95′ N; 80° 35.55′ W; 709-m elevation; . . .), approximately 8 km north of El Cope´, Cocle´ Province, Panama".

Santa Fé, Veraguas Province in central Panama eastward into Colombia, at elevations of 450-1450 m, with a disjunct population in extreme southeast Costa Rica near the Panama border on the Caribbean versant of Cerro Uatsi, Bratsi, Limón Province.
In the Pristimantis (Hypodictyon) ridens species group, most similar to, and previously confused with, Pristimantis caryophyllaceus according to the original publication.
