Type localities: "Tortorillas, Chimboraza [Province] (13,200 feet)", and "Cotocachi (13,000 feet)", Imbaburas Province, Ecuador; restricted to Tortorillas by lectotype designation. ( Boulenger, 1882, Ann. Mag. Nat. Hist., Ser. 5, 9: 466, refers to "Two specimens from Pichincha (11,000 to 12,000 feet), one from the valley of Collanes (12,500 feet), one from Cotocachi (13,000 feet) and two from Tortorillas, lower slopes of Chimborazo (13,200 feet)", so if the second description actually appeared first, some change in type status will be warranted.
