Comment

Related to Allobates brunneus and Allobates marchesianus (both as Colostethus) according to the original publication. La Marca, 1992, Cuad. Geograf., Mérida, 9: 27, noted that the holotype is recently transformed and is difficult to evaluate. Not assigned to species group by Rivero, 1990 "1988", Mem. Soc. Cienc. Nat. La Salle, 48: 3-32. La Marca, Vences, and Lötters, 2002, Stud. Neotrop. Fauna Environ., 37: 233-240, redescribed the species and discussed its relationships. Barrio-Amorós and Garcia-Porta, 2003, Herpetol. Rev., 34: 380, provided the Táchira, Venezuela, record. Barrio-Amorós, 2004, Rev. Ecol. Latino Am., 9: 7, reported on distribution and relevant literature. See map, description of geographic range and habitat, and conservation status (as Colostethus humilis) in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph. World: 223.
