Eleutherodactylus crepitans Bokermann, 1965, Rev. Brasil. Biol., 25: 262. Holotype: WCAB 16144 (now in MZUSP), by original designation. Type locality: "São Vicente, Cuiabá, [Estado de] Mato Grosso, Brasil".
Pristimantis crepitans — Heinicke, Duellman, and Hedges, 2007, Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA, Suppl. Inform., 104: Table 2.
Pristimantis (Pristimantis) crepitans — Hedges, Duellman, and Heinicke, 2008, Zootaxa, 1737: 126.
Oreobates crepitans — Padial, Chaparro, Castroviejo-Fisher, Guayasamin, Lehr, Delgado, Vaira, Teixeira, Aguayo-Vedia, and De la Riva, 2012, Am. Mus. Novit., 3752: 29.
None noted.
Known from São Vicente, Cuiabá, and Chapada dos Guimarães, Mato Grosso, Brazil.
Removed from the synonymy of Eleutherodactylus fenestratus by Heyer and Muñoz, 1999, Proc. Biol. Soc. Washington, 112: 1, where it had been placed by Lynch, 1980, Am. Mus. Novit., 2696: 6. Padial and De la Riva, 2005, J. Herpetol., 39: 372-379, discussed the species and confirmed its status. Tenatively placed the Pristimantis (Pristimantis) peruvianus species group by Hedges, Duellman, and Heinicke, 2008, Zootaxa, 1737: 126, noting that it may actually be in the Pristimantis conspicillatus group. Siqueira, Aguiar, Pansonato, Giaretta, Strussmann, Martins, and Recco-Pimentel, 2009, Genet. Mol. Biol., 32: 47-476, reported on the divergent karyotype (at least when considered a Pristimantis) of this species and reported the species from a second locality. Padial, Chaparro, Castroviejo-Fisher, Guayasamin, Lehr, Delgado, Vaira, Teixeira, Aguayo-Vedia, and De la Riva, 2012, Am. Mus. Novit., 3752: 29-30, provided information on habitat and life history as well as assignment on the basis of molecular data to Oreobates. See comment under Oreobates heterodactylus.
