Barycholos pulcher (Boulenger, 1898)
Leptodactylus pulcher Boulenger, 1898, Proc. Zool. Soc. London, 1898: 122. Syntypes: BMNH (3 specimens); BMNH 1947.2.17.38 designated lectotype by Heyer, 1969, Contrib. Sci. Nat. Hist. Mus. Los Angeles Co., 155: 6. Type locality: "Chimbo", Chimborazo Province, Ecuador; in the same paper as the description Boulenger noted "Chimbo" as "Puente del Chimbo, the railway terminus about 70 miles from Guayaquil, at an elevation of about 1000 ft."

Distribution
Transition zone (rainforest-dry seasonal forest) of Pacific lowlands of Ecuador, 30-600 m elevation.
Comment
Cisneros-Heredia, 2005, Herpetol. Rev., 36: 331, provided a new record for Ecuador and briefly discussed the range. Almendáriz and Orcés, 2004, Politécnica, Quito, 25: 118, provided distributional data for Ecuador.
