Eleutherodactylus phasma Lips and Savage, 1996, Proc. Biol. Soc. Washington, 109: 744. Holotype: CRE 5331, by original designation; now deposited in LACM. Type locality: "Costa Rica: Puntarenas Province, Canton Coto Brus, Zona Protectora Las Tablas, Finca Jaguar, 8° 55′ N, 82° 44′ W on the Río Coton; ca. 20 km NNE of La Lucha, 1850 m elevation".

English Names

None noted.

Distribution

Known only from the type locality in lower cloud forest in the Las Tablas area, Puntarenas Province, southwestern Costa Rica, near the border with Panama.

Comment

In the Eleutherodactylus fitzingeri group, Eleutherodactylus fitzingeri series, according to the original publication. See account by Savage, 2002, Amph. Rept. Costa Rica: 242-243, who included this species in his Eleutherodactylus fitzingeri series, Eleutherodactylus fitzingeri group. In the Craugastor fitzingeri series, Craugastor melanostictus species group of Hedges, Duellman, and Heinicke, 2008, Zootaxa, 1737: 37.
