Eleutherodactylus persimilis Barbour, 1926, Occas. Pap. Boston Soc. Nat. Hist., 5: 193. Holotype: MCZ 11598, by original designation. Type locality: "Suretka, Costa Rica, near the boundary of Bocas del Toro Province, Panamá".

Distribution

Humid lowlands and premontane Atlantic slopes of central to southeastern Costa Rica, 39-1200 m elevation.

Comment

See account by Savage, 2002, Amph. Rept. Costa Rica: 258-259, who included this species in his Eleutherodactylus fitzingeri series, Eleutherodactylus bufoniformis group, and resurrected this taxon from the synonymy of Eleutherodactylus bransfordii, where it had been placed by Savage and Emerson, 1970, Copeia, 1970: 623-644. In the Craugastor rhodopis species series, Craugastor podiciferus species group of Hedges, Duellman, and Heinicke, 2008, Zootaxa, 1737: 41.
