Syrrhopus obesus Barbour, 1928, Proc. New England Zool. Club, 10: 27. Holotype: MCZ 13052, by original designation. Type locality: "Gutierrez, Bocas del Toro Province, Panama (near the Costa Rican frontier)".

Distribution

Atlantic slopes of southeastern Costa Rica and northwestern Panama, 400-1450 m elevation.

Removed from the synonymy of Eleutherodactylus punctariolus by Campbell and Savage, 2000, Herpetol. Monogr., 14: 279 (and who placed it in the Eleutherodactylus rugulosus group, Eleutherodactylus punctariolus complex), where it had been placed by Dunn, 1940, Proc. Acad. Nat. Sci.
