Eleutherodactylus cuaquero Savage, 1980, Bull. S. California Acad. Sci., 79: 14. Holotype: LACM 128460, by original designation. Type locality: "1.75 km east southeast of Monteverde; Provincia Puntarenas, Canton de Puntarenas, Costa Rica; 1520 m".

Distribution

Known only from the type locality in lower montane rainforest in the Cordillera de Tilarán, Puntarenas, Costa Rica, 1520-1600 m elevation.

Removed from a monophyletic Craugastor and from the Eleutherodactylus fitzingeri group by Lynch, 2000, Rev. Acad. Colomb. Cienc. Exact. Fis. Nat., 24: 130. See account by Savage, 2002, Amph. Rept. Costa Rica: 239-240, who included this species in his Eleutherodactylus fitzingeri series, Eleutherodactylus fitzingeri group.
