Distribution
Lowland wet forest from central-eastern Veracruz (Mexico) to western El Petén, Guatemala, 0-600 m elevation.
Comment
In the Eleutherodactylus (Craugastor) alfredi group of Lynch and Duellman, 1997, Univ. Kansas Mus. Nat. Hist. Spec. Publ., 23: 222. Shreve, 1957, Bull. Mus. Comp. Zool., 116: 246-247, considered Eleutherodactylus conspicuus a subspecies of Craugastor alfredi, whereas Duellman, 1960, Univ. Kansas Publ. Mus. Nat. Hist., 13: 53-54, saw little justification for recognizing Craugastor alfredi conspicuus as distinct at all.
