Platymantis papuensis schmidti Brown and Tyler, 1968, Proc. Biol. Soc. Washington, 81: 85. Holotype: SAMA 7618, by original designation. Type locality: "Talasea, Willaumez Peninsula on the north coast of New Britain Island", Bismarcks.

Distribution

Lowlands of New Britain, New Ireland, and Manus Islands, Bismarck Archipelago.

Comment

Menzies, 1982, Brit. J. Herpetol., 6: 242, elevated this taxon from a subspecies of Platymantis papuensis to species status. Menzies, 2006, Frogs New Guinea & Solomon Is.: 95-96, provided a brief account.
