Platymantis punctata Peters and Doria, 1878, Ann. Mus. Civ. Stor. Nat. Genova, 13: 420. Holotype: MSNG 29738, according to Capocaccia, 1957, Ann. Mus. Civ. Stor. Nat. Genova, Ser. 3, 69: 215. Type locality: "Hatam", Arfak Mountains, Vogelkop Peninsula, Papua (New Guinea), Indonesia. Menzies, 1992, Sci. New Guinea, 18: 121, noted that "Hattam" is not a locality, but the name of the people inhabiting the northern Arfak Mountains.

Batanta and Waigeu Islands and the adjacent mainland in the Arfak and Wondiwoi Mountains, New Guinea (Papua, Indonesia).
