Sphenophryne wolfi Sternfeld, 1920, Abh. Senckenb. Naturforsch. Ges., 36: 435. Holotype: SMF 4228 (formerly 1156. 3a) according to Mertens, 1967, Senckenb. Biol., 48(A): 46. Type locality: "Inneres von Buka [Island], Deutsche Salomonen [=Solomon Islands]".

Batrachylodes wolfi — Brown and Parker, 1970, Breviora, 346: 8.

English Names

Wolf's Sticky-toed Frog (Frank and Ramus, 1995, Compl. Guide Scient. Common Names Amph. Rept. World: 98).

Distribution

Buka, Bougainville, Santa Isabel, and Choiseul Islands, 0-1250 m elevation, Solomons.

Removed from the synonymy of Batrachylodes vertebralis by Brown and Parker, 1970, Breviora, 346: 8, where it had been placed by Mertens, 1929, Zool. Anz., 806. See account by Brown and Parker, 1970, Breviora, 346: 1-31. Menzies, 2006, Frogs New Guinea & Solomon Is.: 79, provided a brief account as did Pikacha, Morrison, and Richards, 2008, Frogs Solomon Islands: 33-34.
