Centrolenella spiculata Duellman, 1976, Occas. Pap. Mus. Nat. Hist. Univ. Kansas, 52: 5. Holotype: KU 162284, by original designation. Type locality: "Río Cosñipata, 4 kilometers southwest of Santa Isabel, Departamento Cuzco, Perú, 1700m".

Cochranella spiculata — Ruiz-Carranza and Lynch, 1991, Lozania, 57: 23.

Rulyrana spiculata — Guayasamin, Castroviejo-Fisher, Trueb, Ayarzagüena, Rada, and Vilà, 2009, Zootaxa, 2100: 34.

English Names

Cuzco Cochran Frog (Frank and Ramus, 1995, Compl. Guide Scient. Common Names Amph. Rept. World: 47).

Distribution

Eastern slopes of Andes in central and southern Peru, 1200-1700 m elevation, possibly into adjacent Bolivia.

Comment

In the Cochranella ocellata group, according to Ruiz-Carranza and Lynch, 1991, Lozania, 57: 1-30. De la Riva, Köhler, Lötters, and Reichle, 2000, Rev. Esp. Herpetol., 14: 58, and Köhler, 2000, Bonn. Zool. Monogr., 48: 69, consider this species possibly to occur in Bolivia. Placed in the Cochranella spinosa group by Savage, 2002, Amph. Rept. Costa Rica: 365.
