Centrolenella peristicta Lynch and Duellman, 1973, Occas. Pap. Mus. Nat. Hist. Univ. Kansas, 16: 45. Holotype: KU 118051, by original designation. Type locality: "Tandapi, 1460 m, Provincia Pichincha, Ecuador".
Centrolene peristictum — Ruiz-Carranza and Lynch, 1991, Lozania, 57: 20.
Tandapi Giant Glass Frog (Frank and Ramus, 1995, Compl. Guide Scient. Common Names Amph. Rept. World: 46).
At elevations of 1780-1820 m on the western slope of the Cordillera Occidental in Colombia south from about 7° 20′ N, apparently disjunctly to northern Pacific Andean slopes at 1380-1900 m, Pichincha Province, Ecuador.
In the Centrolene peristictum group according to Ruiz-Carranza and Lynch, 1991, Lozania, 57: 1-30. Cisneros-Heredia and Yánez-Muñoz, 2007, S. Am. J. Herpetol., 2: 6, suggested that this species is almost indistinguishable from Centrolene lynchi, and warranting further study. Cisneros-Heredia and McDiarmid, 2005, Check List, 1(1): 18, provided a discussion of the range and new Ecuadorian localities. Cisneros-Heredia and McDiarmid, 2007, Zootaxa, 1572: 57-58, discussed the species in Ecuador and noted the relevant literature. See photograph, map, description of geographic range and habitat, and conservation status in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph. World: 210.
