Centrolene muelleri Duellman and Schulte, 1993, Occas. Pap. Mus. Nat. Hist. Univ. Kansas, 155: 14. Holotype: KU 217301, by original designation. Type locality: "14 km (by road) west of Venceremos (05° 44′ S, 77° 32′ W, 2000 m), Provincia Rioja, Departamento San Martín, Perú".

Known only from the type locality (San Martín, Peru).
In the Centrolene prosoblepon group according to the original publication. Catenazzi, Von May, Lehr, Gagliardi-Urrutia, and Guayasamin, 2012, Zootaxa, 3388: 64, confirmed the placement of this species in Centrolene.
